Aziwell is proud to announce the opening of a new subsidiary in Australia, with operations based in Brisbane. After several years of strong international growth and successful projects across multiple continents, the company is now bringing its Directional Core Drilling technology to one of the world’s most active exploration markets.

“Australia has been a long time coming,” says CEO Nils Ivar Iversen. “We grew rapidly in Canada and Latin America, and it was only natural to take the next step and expand into Australia as well.”

Hamish Haliday, Country Manager for Australia, believes the timing is right.

“The Australian market is in great need of what Aziwell offers. There’s extensive drilling activity across the country, and our technology can help operators reduce both costs and operational footprint.”

Reducing cost-per-target — and environmental impact

Aziwell’s Directional Core Drilling tools are designed to improve exploration efficiency by enabling multiple targets to be reached from a single platform. This reduces the need to relocate rigs and establish new drill pads, a major advantage in remote areas or environmentally sensitive zones.

“By branching out from one mother hole, multiple targets can be drilled without moving the rig,” explains Iversen. “In many cases, building new sites can be difficult, time-consuming, or even cost-prohibitive.”

In addition, Aziwell’s Azidrill technology uses significantly less water than conventional mud motors, while also delivering higher rates of penetration.

“We’re not only talking about environmental benefits,” Iversen emphasizes. “This is about delivering value in multiple ways, less water usage, faster drilling, and ultimately a much lower cost-per-target compared to conventional drilling methods.”

Haliday also highlights accuracy as a key advantage.

“In some projects, accuracy is critical. Re-drilling boreholes that miss their target is expensive and time-consuming. That’s a problem we help solve.”

Building long-term operations in Australia

The new Australian operations will begin with the opening of a Brisbane office in April. From there, the company expects to scale quickly, following a similar trajectory to its growth in North America.

“First we focus on getting the workshop up and running,” says Haliday.

“After that, we expect a strong ramp-up. There’s enough exploration activity in Australia to keep us busy for a long time.”

Advanced technology for directional drilling projects in Australia

Aziwell is a leading provider of directional drilling solutions and offers service and software products for directional drilling projects in Australia. Take advantage of our advanced technology which reduces the environmental footprint through optimized drill-path planning. It allows you to hit multiple targets from a single drill pad, significantly reducing land disturbance, and CO₂ emissions – a critical requirement for modern, mineral exploration.

About Aziwell

Aziwell is a Norwegian engineering company founded in August 2014. Through a close cooperation with Innovation Norway, several development projects were initiated. This led to a major breakthrough in 2017, when the company’s first product, AziDrill® – Directional Core Barrel, was successfully tested by a leading drilling company. Now we provide directional drilling and bore hole survey services for the mineral exploration and infrastructure industries world-wide.
